My three boys are healthier because of Chiropractic Care

To Anyone Who is Considering Chiropractic Care:

Hello! My name is Tzipora Stessman and I have never written a letter like this before now. Yet I feel so strongly about what I have experienced through Chiropractic care that I decided it was worth the time to write it down and let others know what was done for me and my family. My story is a long one, but you can choose to read the part that may pertain or interest you.

I became interested in Chiropractic care a few years ago when my son, Josiah, was having ear infection after infection. He was on antibiotics straight between the months of February and July when we finally decided to get tubes in both ears to help them drain. I had my reservations about about the whole process, but others talked so non-chaulantly and told me other stories, that I denied my motherly instinct and consented. (I have to insert here that another Mom I met at a playgroup told me about the Chiropractic care her nephew received and how it really seemed to help. But I did not know anything about Chiropractic care and later learned I made many erroneous ideas built up that I was not aware of.) As any parent can imagine, it was a terribly emotional roller coaster seeing your 15-month-old going through tests, shots, fasting, IV’s and then surgery. And then when it was all over and I was with Josiah still unconscious, the doctor came to see us. He was very positive and very nice, but he said he was surprised to see so little fluid in Josiah’s ears. From his expressions and behavior, it was clear that this was a completely unnecessary surgery. It was not done for Josiah’s individual benefit, but because Josiah fell into a category that put him on a conveyor belt of medical practice. And I thought to myself “Never Again!”

Well “again” happened sooner than I thought. One year later, my son, Isaiah, started having ear infections. And immediately people started talking about tubes in his ears. Yet this time, I was all the wiser and I refused to go that route. I had seen Dr. Heather Whittle Davis’s advertisement in the Cookie Corner several times and decided to call and make an appointment to talk. My husband and I had reservations and I remember my husband saying, “Do not commit to anything. Don’t let someone pressure you into making a fast decision.” Our experience was exactly the opposite. Dr. Heather was so wonderful. She gave us all the facts about how Chiropractic care works and said “I don’t expect you to make a decision now. Why don’t you go home and think about it.” Well we did and soon we signed on with Dr. Heather. Dr. Heather saw Isaiah 3 times a week for about three weeks and his ears drained and the infections were gone. As you can imagine, my husband and I were amazed, thankful, and relieved.

Now, in that three-week period, Dr. Heather gave me some reading including other testimonies and How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of your Doctor.  Both of these contributed to the signing of my other two children with Dr. Heather. In another testimony, the mother wrote of medications her son was on for ADHD. But then he had to take medication for other medication. And then he needed stronger medication etc… Then his mother decided to try Chiropractic care and after a few years, the boy was not only off medication, but doing better than before in school. The mother commented, “I finally have my son back.” I asked Dr. Heather how this could be and she patiently explained.

Now Josiah my oldest son, the one who had tubes put in his ears, was diagnosed with Sensory Integration Dysfunction. At his three-year visit with his pediatrician, his doctor said he would never be able to enter kindergarten without being medicated. She was telling me now because she knew how I felt about medications and wanted to eases me into the process. She was also making me aware of the situation so I wasn’t surprised when my child couldn’t “handle a school situation.” I disagreed simply on the basis that she only sees him 15 minutes at a time, once year, and after he’s been waiting in the room for 45 minutes. He was a three-year-old boy. Yet realizing Josiah did have other needs, I did research on diets and other stuff out there. We switch Josiah to a special diet and the Chiropractic care and the difference was amazing! It was not something we saw right away. But he definitely became more focused, less irritably, less frustrated, and just generally happier all around. I know it was a combination of the two, because we did not see Dr. Heather for adjustments for three weeks due to car problems, he slowly went back to his same old ways. My husband and I were thinking  “What’s wrong with him?” Then it occurred to us- he hasn’t been adjusted. It was the only change in the routine. Josiah is in Pre-K now and is doing great!

After I saw how good the Chiropractic care was for my two sons, I bought the family plan, honestly, because it was cheaper. With it, my baby, Elijah, and I could get adjusted too. Elijah was three and half months when he had his first adjustment. Now he is almost a year, and we never had any major health concerns. This is amazing considering background of the other two boys. And for myself, I never had any problems, right? Well, this is what I thought before I started getting adjusted. It is amazing how a ”little” back pain (from epidurals) or that migraine that happens every few days can get you down. If you ask me before, I would say I was in good health, but that is because I never experienced exceptional health! Believe me, functioning at your best is the best!

In closing, I would just like to say I don’t know all the complexities of Chiropractic care, but I do know it works. My children could not tell you why they like it, but it is a testimony of their own when they are so happy to go, jump on the table, and felt so good and so happy after being adjusted. My son Josiah has said to me, “Mom, can we get adjusted today? I feel like I want it?” To me, that says it all. You don’t have to have the medical knowledge on why it exactly helps (though Dr. Heather could give you all that information) but you know that it does work, because you can feel it. And that great feeling carries over into life.
