The Wellpath Center team is privileged to work with many expectant families. Chiropractic care during pregnancy is safe, gentle and offers many advantages to the mother and her unborn child.
The Challenges of Pregnancy:
- Back pain — adjustments throughout pregnancy can prevent or relieve common discomforts.
- Breech Birth — the Webster technique, created by the late Dr. Larry Webster, aids in getting the baby into the proper position.
- Pain during Childbirth — for expectant moms who intend to deliver naturally
Wellpath Helps
Ease pain and discomfort: Chiropractic care restores balance to your pelvic muscles and ligaments, leading to safer and easier deliveries for you and your baby.
Wellpath Care doctors have the training and skill to gently care for the changing body of an expectant mother to ease the discomforts of pregnancy, reduce in utero constraint, and help mothers recover faster following delivery. Massage therapy or nutritional guidance may be recommended in concert with your chiropractic care.
Breech: The Webster technique specifically addresses the baby’s position, and assesses Mom’s nervous system, ligaments, and pelvic muscles to reduce or remove constraints for the fetus, allowing the baby to get into the best possible position for birth.
Results of a survey of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, Inc. were reported in 2001, in which chiropractors recorded 112 cases of breech. Of these, 102 of the babies turned properly after the Webster techinque was performed—a success rate of nearly 92%—eliminating both costs and risks of cesarean section or external cephalic version (ECV).
Pain Management and Natural Childbirth: With the recommendation of your OB, your chiropractor will help you assess the advantages and disadvantages of an epidural. The pain of natural childbirth can be reduced by a strong, flexible body and a well-prepared mind.
How Often will You Visit?
The exam and interview during your first visit with your chiropractor will determine your recommended frequency of appointments. It may be once a month, every two weeks, or in some cases, weekly. Regardless, any glitches along the way can be assessed and addressed quickly. Wellpath’s goal is to keep you healthy, agile, strong and stress-free during such a joyous and miraculous time.
Once your child is born
Post delivery is an optimal time to see your chiropractor for a follow up visit, and schedule a first visit for your new baby. Gentle and minimal nudges can help the infant grow sturdy and strong, and at the very least, a new mother will benefit from having her posture realigned. A massage may also be desired, simply because you deserve to be pampered, or to ease residual soreness and tension of pregnancy and delivery.
